Our story

Built by a remote team tired of standing up for status

Cove started as an internal tool for a fully remote product team tired of standing up for status.

Why we built Cove

We loved the intent behind standups: share progress, surface blockers, stay honest. We disliked the format. Time zones made live meetings unfair, and the ones that happened on time still ate the best deep-work hours.

Cove keeps the useful questions and drops the calendar tax. Teams write short updates when the work is fresh, managers skim a digest, and blockers get attention without a 15-minute circle.

What we believe

  • Alignment should not require everyone online at once.
  • Status is easier to read than to hear.
  • Tools should protect focus, not compete for it.

Who we are

We are a small remote team shipping Cove for product, engineering, and ops groups that already run async by default.

What we believe

Principles behind every Cove ritual

Alignment should not require everyone online at once

Remote teams deserve a ritual that respects focus and time zones.

Status is easier to read than to hear

Writing creates a record managers can skim and teammates can search.

Tools should protect deep work

Cove exists to remove calendar tax, not add another noisy channel.

“We dropped three recurring standups in the first month. People still know what is happening, and mornings feel usable again.”

Maya Chen · Northbeam

“Weekly rollups replaced my status scramble before leadership sync. I skim Cove instead of pinging everyone.”

Jordan Ellis · Fieldnote

“Async updates finally work across our time zones. Blockers show up early instead of in a Friday surprise.”

Priya Nair · Harbor Labs
